GEICO Contributes to Carmel's Successful Economy

Mayor Jim Brainard, Governor Mike Pence, and Berkshire Hathaway Chairman Warren Buffett joined GEICO CEO Tony Nicely in July, 2013, for the official grand opening of GEICO’s facility in Carmel. Benefits have been evident ever since.

As GEICO opened its office in Carmel, it employed 250 newly hired sales and service associates, their training and supervisory teams, as well as additional management and support staff.

Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard offered his welcome to GEICO, “We are pleased to help officially open GEICO’s new office in Indiana and we are proud that it is located in Carmel. GEICO is already making a positive impact on our economy with the addition of 250 jobs.”

Carmel has the ability to attract great companies such as GEICO due to the high quality of life created by a strong sense of community, an excellent school system, expanding park system, variety of cultural amenities and a first-rate professional work force. Tony Nicely offered his thanks for the support from the community during their transition. “To all of our elected officials, community partners and friends in Indiana, we want to thank you for your continuous support. We’re thrilled to be a part of this thriving community,” said Nicely.

GEICO held true to their plan to hire additional associates in the Indianapolis area by the end of the 2013 and continue to look for motivated, friendly candidates who possess effective communication skills, ability to provide outstanding service, strong computer and multi-tasking skills, and a desire to build a career.

Mayor Brainard added that, “As the number of employees grows to 1,200 by 2016, GEICO will become one of our larger employers and will further stimulate the local economy as those employees will need support services, homes and places to dine, shop, play and be entertained. Carmel has worked hard to build a vibrant city where business can thrive and we look forward to GEICO’s continued success.”
